How the Program is Taught

The program focuses on active forms of learning where you learn advanced theory through the practical use of technology. You will be expected to take responsibility in your studies, as a completed Master's degree must be proof of a good ability to work independently. The study's teaching is more closely organized at the beginning than towards the end, where the choices and responsibility rest to a greater extent on you as a student. You will have a variety of lectures, seminars, digital learning tools, group work, individual work, and lab work.

Program Structure

The program structure includes common courses, specialization courses, and a master's thesis. The common courses are Understanding and Communicating Research and Interdisciplinary Innovation and Complex Problems. The specialization courses in Universal Design of ICT include User Diversity and ICT Barriers, Universal Design of Interactive Systems, and Interaction Styles and Technologies for Accessibility.

Career Opportunities

With a specialization in Universal Design of ICT, you are particularly well-qualified for jobs in both the public and private sectors, within fields such as software development, consulting companies, and innovative businesses within universally designed ICT solutions. Examples of these solutions include web applications, work applications, mobile services, consumer electronics, and electronic self-service machines. It is not uncommon to get positions such as manager, team leader, subject manager, or project manager after a few years.

Further Studies

The degree also qualifies for PhD programs, depending on your specialization and grades. OsloMet offers a PhD program in Engineering Science, which is a 3-year full-time program with 180 ECTS credits.
